Most interesting times to visit Bali

By: Virtual Trave Guides

Bali is especially busy during the Christmas/New Year peak holiday period but beach lovers and also plenty of young families travel here at this time but at all times of the year Bali is busy. Bali welcomes tourists from Australia especially but people come to Bali from all over the world and the tourist scene is cosmopolitan and vibrant.

High humidity and boiling heat are daily regulars in Bali. There is no real ideal time to visit Bali or a best time to visit since even during the December to April wet season thunderstorms each afternoon are the only real interruption to beach time and they never last for more than an hour.

Indoor activities such as bar hopping and dining are of course, unaffected by thunderstorms and also heavy rains and since cold weather is very rarely encountered in Bali any time of the year is a good time to visit Bali. Temperatures are slightly reduced in the dry season but visitors from Europe will find the weather is hot and sticky at all times.

Though the April to September period marks the official peak Bali tourist season hotel prices and crowd numbers are not especially increased during this time. All through the year tourism is busy here and visitor numbers are fairly steady not matter what the weather.

Bali’s fascinating annual festivals attract lots of curious visitors. The Galungan feast runs every March and October and this feast is followed by the Kuningan which is a public holiday to mark the end of the Galungan holiday. Like most other Balinese feasts and holidays the Galungan and the Kuningan are noted for their celebrations and feasting.

During holiday and festival times visitors should be very respectful of religious etiquette which is very important to all Balinese. Just because a festive atmosphere prevails, doesn’t mean that normal etiquette should be ignored. All visitors are advised to undertake some research to find out just what is acceptable and what isn’t in Bali.

Nyepi takes place in March and is the Balinese New Year holiday. The Sarwaswati festival is a religious weekend held in January and then held again in August. Both of these holidays are marked with feasting, dancing and all kinds of idiosyncratic things.

The weather in Bali doesn’t offer any form of relief from the heat and stickiness. So, it is difficult to ascertain just what the best time to visit Bali is since every month of the year comes with hot weather and humidity that will seem high for non-Asian visitors no matter what the month.

Even at the dry season, stickiness in the air is far higher than people arriving from cooler climates would ever have experienced. Prickly heat and other heat and sun related medical conditions should be expected.
