In Cornwall, holiday cottages are the best way to enjoy the county

By: Audrey Taylor

Attractions -
When you come on holiday to Cornwall, holiday cottages provide the chance to explore and enjoy yourself. Because there are so many attractions to visit in this part of the world, a cottage can give you the freedom you need.

It’s a hard task to highlight the area’s many features in just a few paragraphs. But among the most notable are the historical sites. These include Lanhydrock House. Run by the National Trust, the house is set in 1,000 acres of parkland, forest and gardens. You can easily spend the day here. And if you have a family, you can find something to occupy everyone.

Beaches -
But when you stay at one of the many Cornwall holiday cottages, you should also visit the beaches. There are more than 300 of these open to the public. Most have sand, and give you access to both beach and water sports.

Perhaps the most famous of these sports is surfing. So if you’re an experienced surfer, you cannot miss the opportunities Cornwall offers. And if you’d like to learn, consider signing up to one of the available courses.

Gardens -
Cornwall’s mild climate has allowed horticulturalists to create some wonderful gardens. The variety and quality of the plants is astonishing.

There are many gardens you can visit. Inevitably, you have to make some hard decisions. One way of helping you do this is to think about the type of gardens you prefer. For instance, the tourist office lists gardens with categories such as dog friendly, easy access, waterside, historic and ideal for walkers.

In this way, you can enjoy the pleasures of what many regard as the world’s garden capital.

Wildlife -
In Cornwall, holiday cottages in the countryside often have a range of wildlife around them. But to see wildlife conservation at work, visit the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River.

The sanctuary rescues seal pups, and releases more than 40 back to the wild each year. It also gives a permanent home to seals that are unable to return to their natural environment.

A further place of interest is the Blue Reef Aquarium at Newquay. This award-winning aquarium has themed displays that give you insights into the incredible life within the sea.

So isn’t it time you stayed in Cornwall in holiday cottages that are homely and luxurious? They’re the perfect accommodation for exploring a region that has a great deal to offer.
