Family Fun in Historic Boston, Massachusetts

If you planning a family vacation, consider Boston, Massachusetts; it will be more than just fun and entertainment for the family; you will take a trip back in time in American History and the patriot in you will come alive. This classic Massachusetts city offers great history, entertainment, sports, and lots of fun. There is plenty to do and see in the state's capital, so, it is up to you whether you want to go over the weekend or for a full week's holiday.

Children and adults alike will enjoy reveling in American history on the historic Massachusetts Freedom Trail. This great trail takes visitors to 16 historical sights that played a huge part in the creation of America. From historic buildings to special places to memorials to statues, you will see Boston on the Freedom Trail. Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes, since you will be covering a good bit of the city while on the trail. To start on the trail, begin your adventure at the National Park Visitors Center across from the historic Old State House. Park Rangers can lead you on a guided tour or you can explore the trial for yourself.

Every sports fan will take a special thrill and will beg to “take me out to the ball game” when it comes to seeing the world famous Boston Red Sox knock one out of the park. The classic Fenway Park is one of the best parks in the entire professional baseball circuit. Fresh off their record breaking victory that broke the “Cure of the Babe,” the Sox are back and better than ever!

The football enthusiasts will enjoy watching the fantastic New England Patriots, Super Bowl winners in 2002, 2004, and 2005. When these talented athletes take the field they are a pleasure to watch; it is an experience enjoyed by both adults and kids alike. You will have to check out their schedule to see when they will be playing at the fantastic Gillette Stadium, which is nearly 30 minutes south of the city.

Your trip to Boston would be incomplete without a trip to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Here you will find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to great souvenirs of the city. Quincy Market's newest resident is the professional chef, Emeril Legasse. Don't miss his fantastic live show.

In the heart of the city you would find a big green space, the Boston Common- darling of the Bostonians. This park is full of kids, their parents and tourists. You and your kids can enjoy a game of baseball, soccer and more or just while away the time.

Another park, and a big one at that, is the Public Garden of Boston. E.B. White has made this garden and its swan boats famous in his book, "Trumpet of the Swan". So whenever you are in Boston, bring your family to Public Garden to enjoy a ride on these Swan Boats.

Finally, don't miss Harvard while you are in Boston. A visit to the historic Massachusetts institute of higher education is awe-inspiring. Your kids may get interested in becoming an Ivy League whiz kid after walking on the beautiful and historic grounds of Harvard. They can also buy Ivy League outfit on Harvard Square.
